Fashion History #1 Where it all began

September 29, 2015

Hello my lovelies, I hope you are having a nice week so far. I am trying to get use to my hectic university schedule and trust me it's hard. Now by looking at the heading of the post I am starting a new series which is going to be about the history of fashion. For me I feel like we all need to understand the knowledge behind where it all began and how certain trends have been developed over the past centuries. Every one thinks about the trends now but never look at where they were developed from.

I am going to give you a little bit of information about this series :
1) There will be 5 posts, each being about fashion evolution.
2) There will be fashion icons that will come from different eras.
3) This fashion history series will not go any further than the 1900's because I want to do more than one post on those decades. So the posts will be based on the time before the 1900's.
4) Welcome to my fashion history posts, I hope you enjoy and gain some insight on how fashion has come along way.

On to all things Fashion History ....

The era will dated back to 10,000 BCE to 600 CE and that is a long time ago. I am going to go through what we discovered and gained from different cultures.

Egyptians

So the ancient Egyptians wore linen clothing, mostly because of the hot climate and that was the best discovery ever. Crisp pleats and decorative collars and belts was something all Egyptians loved. Now for me I would never have thought that crisp pleats came from them, but if we think about their clothing you can tell that pleats were always slipping in somewhere or another.

Greeks

Now the Greeks we all know, we inherited the all mighty tunic. I think the tunic is the most versatile piece that has been changed, altered, and developed over the years and it definitely been revolutionised in some era's. Just to think it was a simple piece of clothing that required minimal effort. Along with the tunics there was the drapery technique which is great to show movement in clothing.

China and Japan

One piece of clothing that has been trending alot over the last year is the kimono style which has come from eastern Asia, it's a lovely piece of clothing to style with in the summer. Would you have ever thought that a T - shaped kimono style garment would have been revolutionised and became part of statement fashion today, I don't think Asia ever thought it would either.

Asian and Persian

We have seen that the styles we have discussed, have been more loose fitted clothing, clothing that does not really have that much shape. The Asian/Persian culture prefer the more fitted clothing, they liked shaped skirts and they also took inspiration from the Greeks and developed various styles of drapery which is great for showing shape.

Thank for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed my first fashion history post. If you did then please leave a like and comment below letting me know what you liked most about this post.

Look Magazine Weekly #28th September

September 24, 2015

Hello my lovelies I hope everyone is having a good week. I know everyone is looking forward to the weekend, I would much appreciate it if you could look out for my video on my blog. (#selfpromotion *laughs*)
So we all know the fashion industry is blowing up on various different platforms over the last couple of weeks. I have been keeping up to date on the fashion weeks and have enjoyed looking and admiring the collections of all the amazing designers that have worked so hard this season. I only dream that one day I will have one of my collections on the runways, I mean how amazing would that be! #dreaming

On to all things Look....

So as many of you girls know this is my go to fashion magazine and I was pretty disappointed with issue. Reason being that the coverage of fashion week was not up to my liking, I felt they limited themselves on collections they could of shown.
But that's just me!

However I did spot this trend and I thought why not share this. I love midi skirts, I feel there is some kind of elegance that goes with it. For me, I feel mid skirts give a 60s feel which I love its a great period of fashion! There are so many different styles, but the one that caught my eye was this red skirt, it's beautiful and, paired with those polka dot heels just makes it extra special.

My two style picks are from Zara and Urban Outfitters this week. Starting off with Zara, this metallic khaki pleated midi, is really pretty. I don't know what it is but when I see these skirts I really want to invest in one. This skirt is definitely one to wear on nights out, and its £39.99 which is not too bad. The shimmer, the shine, just know your going to have a good time!

Moving on to Urban Outfitters, I feel like they do great one off items that will last a long time. The item I have chosen is this corduroy dress, it takes me back to my childhood, when everything was cord! I really like corduroy because it's a great fabric to wear in the winter and this dress is £56, which is quite expensive but definitely an item worth investing in!

Thank you for reading this weeks post, If you enjoyed this post then please give it a like. Also feel free to leave a comment on what you enjoyed most about this post :)

Fashion Style Series #7 - Rocker

September 22, 2015

Hello my lovelies and welcome back to Tuesday Treats. I cannot believe this is going to be the last post of the fashion style series, I feel like the time has gone so fast. I remember prolonging this series and thinking people would not be interested in the vision behind it. How wrong I was, a lot of people have enjoyed reading these posts and I would like to take this moment to thank each and every one of you that have read and enjoyed this series!

Now the last style I have chosen is very different to the six previous styles and if you know me, I am all about being different. It becomes boring when everything is the same, don't you think?

On to all things Rock and Roll ......

Now this week we are going to be imagining and trying to bring out our crazy rocker style, I know a lot of you are probably thinking that the rock and roll style will not appeal to everyone. I agree it doesn't but one thing you can take from this style is expressing your rebellious side and living on the edge a bit.

So lets kick this off with talking about the pieces of clothing that is mostly associated with this style. When you think rock and roll, you think leather jackets, ripped jeans, vintage tees and to a certain degree hats are involved!

I think you can take a element from this style which will make you look different to any current style you have. I mean I love my leather jacket that I have and I quite like the trend of the ripped jeans right now.

Everyone's taste in clothing is different but that does not mean you belong to a specific style, style is something that defines you. Like I have said from the very beginning style is a reflection of your personality and our personality is not always constant. We have so many interests and different elements that make us unique!

So sometimes you may want to be that bohemian girl and sometimes you may want to be a rocker chic, I think experimenting and changing things up is all part of life and why not use the same approach with style.

Down below I have complied a range of images of the aspects I love from the rocker style.

Look Magazine Weekly #21st September

September 17, 2015

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are having a good week. So it's that time of week again, who's looking forward to this week's fashion and style gossip! I am actually looking forward to next week's issue, the reason being everyone knows that fashion week's has been going on. And I have seen some great collections over the last couple days. Anyway I think Kendall looks beautiful in this dress, I remember she wore this dress at the Cannes Film festival!

On to all things Look.....

These trends for me have caught my eye this season, so lets start with Gothic Glam. Designers like McQueen and Giles have been incorporating this victorian style lace in there collections, and if you know me I love my lace! I can see how this victorian lace can give a gothic vibe! If your thinking of doing fancy dress than victorian lace will give you great inspiration for any outfit, just something to think about!
Moving on to the cosy shearing trend, now I love faux fur but shearing is something that had to grow on me. I quite like the cosy feel it gives off, and I think shearing can look good depending on products! I guess it depends on the style of shearing you can get!

Now my picks of the week is more of colours of the week. Let me explain, so the colours I am loving is the yellow/mustard dress from Boohoo and the other colour is berry purplely/pinkish top and skirt from Ted Baker. I think berry is a very autumn/fall colour and I have been browsing at berry coloured lipsticks! I am shocked because I have never really considered such a bold colour before, maybe the season is changing me!

Thank you for reading my post,
That is all for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading this post, if you did then please give it a like! Comment below telling me what you liked most about this post.

Fashion Style Series #6 - Classic

September 15, 2015

Hello my lovelies, welcome to Tuesday Treats I hope you all are good. Now for those who have been following my fashion style series from the very beginning will know that this is my sixth post of this series, and that means that next week will be the last post of this series! I have left all the links to all the previous style posts down below.

On to all things classic ....

So as you can see this week's fashion style is classic, now classic is often referred to the clean look. It is the more smart, simple plain clothing that takes you back into a timeless period. Apparently its a style that expresses stability, I guess it's a more mature modern look people tend to adapt to.

I quite like the simplicity of this style, it reflects a sense of elegance and the clothing involved is very basic. It reflects that something simple can always be a effective, a dress paired with tights and heels, then your good to go!

It's good for when your in a rush, because these outfits require minimum effort and they still look like you mean business, whatever the occasion! The clothing often referred to this style is basic plain dresses, blouses, wide leg trousers and ballet pumps.

I think this style is great and in the future I will probably be using more of this style, I feel its great for work wear and it is showing sophistication at its best!

Back me up here, we all have those days where we feel that we will end up adapting some aspect of this style, because style is all about expressing your individuality by putting your twist on it!

Now below I have compiled a range of photos to help you visual the style better and understand what I mean when I'm talking about the classic style.

All products can be found on ASOS

Thank you for reading my post, That is all from this style this week, I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did then please give it a like! Leave a comment on what you love most about the classic style

Look Magazine Weekly #14th September

September 10, 2015

Hello my lovelies I hope you all are enjoying your week so far, and are looking forward to the weekend! I know I am, many of you know that I will be uploading my first video on Saturday, so keep a look out for my post. You can check out last week's post here - Look Weekly.

On to all things Look...
Now this week's issue has not been as interesting as I would of liked it to be, but I managed to get some content about things that I found interesting or I liked.

So lets kick this off with watches, I love watches they are definitely my go to accessory that I simply cannot live with out! I have been on the lookout for new watches and I recently came across the House of Florrie collection on ASOS, I thought they are really cute. They are not a watch I normally would go with because I prefer chunky watches. However I think they would look great with dresses, because they are quite delicate watches!
The next piece is a midi skirt, what I particularly like about it was the the two red lines on skirt. I always think that black and red go so well together and it is a very cute skirt.

Now onto my two style picks which are from New Look and Lasula. Starting with New Look I am really loving there new collection this season, I think they have really out did themselves. I am thinking to do a New Look Wishlist post, if you think that sounds interesting them make sure to like the post! The item I am especially loving is the sleeveless waistcoats, I think they are great to wear for the cooler days!
Lasula has finally made an impression on me, reason being this jumpsuit! To me this looks like more of a dungaree style jumpsuit and I have seen many people talk about the dungaree style coming back. I really want to invest in one and this one is only £20 which cheap and affordable!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post, if you did then please give it a like! Comment below telling me what you liked most about this post.

Fashion Style Series #5 - Tomboy

September 08, 2015

Hello my lovelies, welcome to Tuesday Treats! I hope you all are having a funtastic day, and as you know I am back with another fashion style. This is actually one of my favourite style's when it comes to fashion!

On to all things Tomboy ....
Now this style is often referred to a boyish fashion style, but I think it's a style where you can wear comfortable clothing and look great! Many clothing that is associated with this style is sweatshirts, jeans, vans, converse, trainers, caps etc. I mean what's not to love about this style, I am one of those girls who love to use this style alot. And yes, I love my dresses but would I choose jeans and jumpers most probably!

Style is what one possesses, the reason why fashion is there is so you can create your own style. So as I go through these fashion styles, there is probably something you like from each one and that is what makes you different from everyone else.

I believe for me the tomboy style is a style I can rock and feel good in, I don't care if people say to me why are you adapting this type of boyish style. I feel I can add my girly twist to it.

Look at the girls below they are rocking this style and still look feminine, so girls express yourself and wear what reflects you as a person and your personality. People will judge you regardless of what you wear!

All products can be found on ASOS

That is all from this style this week, I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did then please give it a like! Leave a comment on what you love most about your tomboy style

Hello my lovelies I hope you all are having a lovely Saturday. As I mentioned in my Tuesday post I will be updating you on some new things that I will be doing and some things to look out for.

On to all things FashtasticFlare...

So for all those who have been following from the beginning probably know I started this blog in mid may, so I have only been blogging for nearly four months now. Look Magazine Weekly #7th September

September 04, 2015

Hello my lovelies I hope you are good, I know this was suppose to be posted yesterday but I had problems with my internet so I could not post it. I'm here now and ready give you the gossip on fashion styles and pieces I'm loving this week. If you missed last week's blog post then you can check it out here - Look Weekly.

On to all things Look....
So let's kick this off with plaid first, I love plaid it's one of my favourite patterns, I normally refer to it as tartan rather than plaid. I think it is a great fabric pattern to have in your wardrobe because it's so versatile and gives an element of fun! I just love it, but pairing plaid with plaid is simply genius! You can never have too much plaid!! I really loving this sleeveless checked jacket Olivia is wearing, its just gorgeous.
Now we all know Victoria Beckham and her fashion sense, and it doesn't surprise me that a model is inspired by Victoria Beckham's clothing designs. I quite like Victoria's style because it's simple but effective.
So a few pieces have caught my eye this week, the first piece being these minimalistic dresses. They are so simplistic but so effective. I feel like you can pair them with practically anything, it's a type of dress you can dress up or dress down! It's definitely a dress worth looking to invest in, plus you can get so much wear out of it!
The another piece is that lovely fedora red hat from H&M, it's such a beautiful colour and great for the autumn look. I guess I am in love with hats because I am searching for my perfect fedora and I may have just found it!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post, if you did then please give it a like! Comment below telling me what you liked most about this post.

Fashion Style Series #4 - Preppy

September 01, 2015

Hello my lovelies I hope you all have been good. I know my blog recently has been relatively quiet but trust me I am planning some excited posts and other things that you will be looking forward to. Look out for my blog post on Saturday which will be explaining the new and wonderful things that will be happening! Also I am going to start calling my Tuesday posts " Tuesday Treats " let me know whether you like this or not?

Now on to all things Preppy.....
So this week's fashion style is preppy, for me I think this style is quite sporty but formal as well. You know when you watch American college films and you have the girls wearing blazers, blouses, knee high socks, striped cardigans and plaid/tartan skirts that's what I think the preppy style is all about.

As many people know the preppy style is mostly adapted by college students, I guess it's quite smart but with a college twist! Its a style students adopt for comfortability and to look presentable ready for the work industry, it definitely shows the transitional phase from what you would wear when you are perhaps in your younger years.

I have compiled a range of images of what outfits I love from this style. My favourite pieces are definitely the blazers and the tartan skirts, I think they are cute pieces to jazz up a simple outfit!
All products can be found on ASOS

That is all from this style this week, I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did then please give it a like! Leave a comment on what you love most about the preppy style
