Dior December #5 What Does Dior Mean To Me?

December 31, 2015

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all having a lovely day. I know, I know this post is late. I can explain it's kinda the aftermath of Christmas and preparing for New Year's that I have not had any time to write this post. However I wanted to get this in before the New Year!

As you now this is the last post of Dior December, I hope you have enjoyed reading about all things Dior, and if Dior wasn't the designer for you then check out next month's Designer of the month where we depart from France and go exploring to Italy.

On to things Dior December......

One thing I have learned from Dior is that it is never too late to start career or pursue anything in your life. I have admiration for Dior, in the way he achieved so much in so little time. He always had significance to all the things he created and designed.

Many people do not know the significance of how Miss Dior the perfume came about. Miss Dior was in dedication to his sister. It's really lovely that he made such an iconic perfume in reference to his sister.

I feel that when I become a fashion designer one day that I would be quite similar to Dior in the aspect of being a more visual person. His background came about as an artist, and before the design was created he often envisioned it and did a variety of sketches. And I loved art when I was in school. I think I have that same trait, I am a very visual learner!

As this post is coming to an end I would like to leave you with a some of my favourite quotes from the French man himself, Christian Dior:

'A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting'. - Christian Dior

'The relationship of a couturier with the press is like a love affair - a never-ending love affair, renewed each season, involving endless intrigues and reconciliation.' - Christian Dior

'I was French couturier, but I had to understand the needs of elegant women all over the world.' - Christian Dior

'Couture ... the best possible proof that there is magic abroad.' - Christian Dior

Dior December #4 My Favourite Collection

December 22, 2015

Hello my lovelies, how are you all doing? I cannot believe Christmas is 3 days away and soon it will be 2016. It's amazing how fast a year can go and how fast this month has gone. Can you believe that this is the 4th post of Dior December and we only have one more to go.

On to all things Dior December......

This week's post is about my favourite Dior collection, and I have to say since I watched Dior and I, I was mesmerised by the way Raf Simons presented his first collection. It makes you want to look at a range of photos from the catwalk, I wished I was there to see his vision through my own eyes.

His first collection will not only be special for him but one, people will never forget. I am so intrigued on how he envisioned the walls to be covered in fresh flowers, it makes you feel at one with nature.

Let's go through my favourite pieces......

All these dresses are iconic and special in their way. My favourite is the white dress. It reminds me of the flowers on the wall. It has great elegance and poise like the flower itself. The green and red/black dresses are truly amazing because they are inspired by an artist's work. To be able to portray all those colours is not easy and he definitely pulled it off. Hands down one of my favourite collections and I will never forget this, don't think many people will.

Thank you reading my post, if enjoyed this post then please give it a like!

Dior December #3 Book&Film Review

December 16, 2015

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are well. I know this post has is a day late, I can explain. The reason being, that I have been planning some Christmas posts as well as videos. So make sure you look out for them!!!

On to all things Dior December....

So if you followed Chanel November you would know I do a Book review, this is where I review the sources I have used to help me to know more about that particular designer of the month. So this month I read the Vogue on Christian Dior book as well as watching the Dior and I DVD.

Vogue on: Christian Dior (Vogue on Designers) - £14.95

My initial thoughts of this book was very good, it gave me the ground knowledge of what Christian Dior was all about. The critique I would give is that like the Chanel book it is not up to date, this book was published in 2012. The New Creative director Raf Simons who was appointed in 2012  was not in this book. But however a good read!

Dior and I [DVD] - £5.99

What can I say about this film, it was spectacular and mesmerising. I loved the journey I was taken on throughout that film. I feel Raf Simons' journey as a creative director to his first collection really gave us a real insight to the amount of people and hard work is needed in the fashion industry.
He really captured the essence of Dior by incorporated Dior's passion of flowers in the display of the catwalk! He even captured a little bit of himself by doing a piece which is inspired by one of his favourite artists' painting.
I think anyone who loves fashion or wants to go into this industry should watch this, to give them an insight of the industry. Also I hope Raf Simons makes a come back in the fashion industry again as we know he resigned from Dior in October this year!

Thank you reading my post, if enjoyed this post then please give it a like!

Look Magazine Weekly #14th December

December 10, 2015

Hello my lovelies I hope you have had a great week so far. The weather has been awful and I am glad I have been inside while it has been tipping it down. I have finally finished my dreaded coursework which is due in tomorrow,  I am so relieved. This gives me time to finally write this post YAYY!

Fashion is my life now and I love looking for new trends, reading interesting articles and it's something that gives me happiness when I am working on the next big thing! I hope one day I am happy with what I set out to achieve :) Remember it's about the little things in life!

Let's get this post under way,
On to all things LOOK.....

Now I know lots of people tend to get married in this month cause of Christmas and the New Year. Many people are planning a winter wonderland and the dress is very important to anyone's Wedding day. One particular high street shop that has everyone talking this week is, the Needle & Thread, now I have seen some of their dresses on ASOS and I have fallen in love with them!

The fact that they offer Wedding dresses are no surprise to me, I simply LOVE their tulle skirts, there is something magical about them. So if you are a girl who is looking to get married soon, I suggest you pop on over to Needle & Thread and find a dress that is reasonably priced and make you feel timeless on your special day.

For those single people out there, me included, we can continue to dream about our special day and admire the features of what we would want our wedding dress to look like..... *daydreams*

This week I will be talking about three pieces that have caught my eye. Starting with M&S, I simply love the blue Houndstooth co-ord. It's so cute and reminds of clueless for some reason, great for the winter season.

Zara is the place to shop for many bloggers, but as I was browsing on there website the rose embellished clutch was something I really liked. I think if you are wearing a LBD then this clutch would be a great addition to your outfit. It brings something different and if you know me, I am all for different!

And lastly we go to Warehouse, as a lover for lace, this dress is a beautiful shade of blue and great for any Christmas night out. The floral appliqué just give that Christmasy feel.

That is all from this week. I hope you enjoyed the fashion inspired post, if you did then please give it a like!
Also leave a comment on your thoughts about these fashion trends this season?

Dior December #2 Dior's First Collection

December 08, 2015

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all having a good week so far. Christmas is in like two weeks, where has the time gone. As we know it the New Year will be here and that will mean a new Designer of the month. (When you realise you are drifting too much into the future *giggles*)

Let's forget about that for a moment and focus on the present! I am back with the second Dior post of the month :)

On to all things Dior December......

So this week's post is all about Dior's first collection, the first collection that caused all types of popularity and started his career. The collection was called the New Look and this particular outfit was the one the media went crazy about.

This was the bar suit which sparked off many different opinions and news in the fashion industry at that time. Dior always wanted the clothes to shape the woman, and to show off the curves of the female body!

Regardless of what other people thought about the length of the skirt and how it restricted women from the way they wanted to dress. Everyone wanted a piece of this collection. The New Look's Full Skirt was what all woman were dreaming about back then. Many people reviewed the length of the skirt as unpatriotic, I disagree.

Dior wanted women not only to feel good but to look good and this skirt portrayed elegance. I feel not everyone was able to see Dior's vision behind the skirt.

Dior never imagined to gain so much fame after one collection and this gave him the opportunity to expand his collections over many horizons. His artsy side came out when he was designing and sketching his future pieces. Dior connected through his work by sketching them first, this was all part of the design process for him. He knew that once he had envisioned it he would be able to create it and so he did.

This is why Dior is now a multinational selling brand and everywhere you go, you will know the name! But by the end of the month you will know the man behind the brand. I will take you on a journey as if you lived alongside Christian Dior himself.

Lets depart on some wise words from Mr Christian Dior Himself

"Women have instinctively understood that I dream of making them not only more beautiful, but also happier." - Christian Dior

Doubting Yourself Restricts You From Taking Risks

December 04, 2015

Hello my lovelies, I know many people are happy that Friday has finally come, so am I! I thought to do a different style of post today because I have not done one of these in a while.
I feel that we always think we are alone when we experience certain moments, feeling, thoughts etc in our life. This post is about something everyone feels from time and time and I am here to relate to all my fellow friends out there.

On to things Doubtful......

Now doubt is something we are experience from time to time, sometimes we let that doubt cloud our judgement and make our mindset worse. Our minds are a very powerful part of our body and it can be the restriction that prevents us from reaching our full potential.

I, as a human being always has the tendency to over think many decisions in my life; doubt comes in a form of negativity for me, which makes me feel worse about myself. Doubt makes me question all the steps I take like, will I ever make it? Will I be able to achieve what I set to do in life? Will I be able to make my family proud? Will I be able to be a person someone will look up to? ......

I want people who are reading this to realise one thing, YOU are in control of your life. YOU have the power to turn that doubt into something worth having. YOU can turn that doubtful thought into the reason you fight for everything in life! Prove your thoughts wrong, Prove everyone wrong, then one day when you look back you say WOW that was not so hard and I am proud of what I did to get to this moment.

When I recently watched the film Inside Out I realised alot, from a simple concept created for children. The film was about how different emotions make you feel and how they reflect you as a person. It made me realise that we have so many emotions in our mind and sometimes we let individual emotions take over rather than letting them merge together.  For example we always talk about the saying in order to value happiness, you must know what sadness feels like. But if you merge the two emotions together we get tears of joy! Feeling happy and sad at the same time.

Just like doubt, it should be the fear itself that drives you to take the necessary risk to reach that happiness you intend to have. We should turn our fear into to motivation, because we know the feeling is unpleasant but we can bring something positive out of it. What's the point of feeling unpleasant all the time when we can do something that will bring us joy?

I have compiled a range of quotes I feel will help everyone to uplift themselves, and remember you are only in the journey of your life not the destination. So there will be bumps and obstacles in your way but like a car you will not let them stop you from getting to the place you want to go. You will overcome these obstacles and bumps until you get to the place you want to be!
So remember that ..... :)

I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did then please give it a like!

Dior December #1 Who is Christian Dior?

December 01, 2015

*Drum Roll please* Welcome to Dior December! This month's Designer is the man himself, Mr Christian Dior. He's such a fascinating man, because he launched a fashion career later in his life and became a major brand we all know and love!

Time to talk all things Dior.........

Dior was French by nationality, I mean all the great designers are right. I think the Italians will beg to differ. However Christian Dior is a designer the French and the rest of the world will never forget, not only did he live through 2 world wars; he revolutionised fashion and made you believe that it is never too late to launch a fashion career.

Dior came from a very rich family, his family wanted him to go into a more diplomatic career. Dior followed his heart and that laid with his artistic skills, I guess later this is where he realised fashion and art can be combined.

He open a small art gallery in his youth, but when his mother and brother died his father fell into depression. This caused them to suffer financial. Dior had to close his gallery and come home to look after his dad and manage the finances in some way.

This is where the Dior house came about.....

I am going leave you on a cliffhanger now, so make sure to stay updated and follow my blog!

Thank you reading my post, if enjoyed this post then please give it a like!
