Oscars 2016 : Best Dressed & Leo winning an Oscar!

February 29, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are well. Now we know the internet and social media exploded over the last 24 hours. Now if you live in the UK, the Oscars aired pretty late here I think it was after 11pm. But as I awakened the most awaited moment in Oscar history happened, Leo finally did it!

Before we go onto to Leo, let's talk about the celebrities who dazzled the red carpet, I have 8 people who I felt owned the red carpet. Some of them even picked an Oscar, Win Win!

On to all thing Oscar worthy....

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vitton

Now Alicia seems to make a regular appearance in these red carpet posts, what can I say she never fails when it comes to fashion. I really like the colour of this Louis Vitton dress, it is really beautiful. A lot of fashion magazines talked about how she resembled the Disney princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast and I agree with them! Definitely a gown fit for a princess as well as picking up an Oscar. A moment she will never forget!

Brie Larson in Gucci

Brie in this blue Gucci dress really wowed me. The dress is a vibrant colour that stands out, deep v neck not revealing too much. But for me it is all in the skirt, those ruffle frills gives the dress a element of drama as well as being elegant at the same time! The embellished belt really added to the dress and did not over power it at all.

Margot Robbie in Tom Ford

Margot in this Gold shimmer number really added to the Oscar feel of the night. I mean if the Oscar award needed a date then this dress would be perfect for it. The dress holds a sense of magicalness, I guess gold really makes a moment golden! ;)

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive

Naomi in Armani Prive really surprised me with this sequin gown. I see that sequin gowns will be a fashion trend that will appear often throughout 2016! This strapless gown is really lovely with this sort of ombre colour transition throughout the dress! The bottom half of the dress kind of reminds of a mermaids tail which I really like and, I feel that is what I was drawn to when picking this dress.

Wow how have I already finished 4 dresses, here I move onto the next four. Don't click off just yet as I am saving the best till last!

Reese Witherspoon in Oscar De La Renta

I am so happy to have Reese Witherspoon here on my blog, not only is she one of my favourite actress's, but she is wearing an Oscar De La Renta dress,  who I absolute adore! This strapless gown is a lovely shade of purple and the ruffled neckline with the slight structure in the bodice is amazing!

Emily Blunt in Prada

Emily in this beautiful Prada dress just radiates her beauty. The colour is lovely and light, the embellishment is very subtle and gives you glimmers of sparkles whilst walking down the red carpet!

Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein

Now Saorise's dress is very similar to the one Selena Gomez wore to the Grammy's but that is not surprising since they are made from the same designer. I am telling you sequins have never looked so good and especially in this emerald green colour. The deep plunging V neckline and sheerness in the skirt is what makes this dress an outstanding dress!

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

I have finally reached the last dress and it is the beautiful Jennifer in this lovely Dior gown. What I really like is the little details you can see pop out of the dress, the skirt has got lots of things going on! I love the little hints of lace to the layering of fabric of various lengths around the dress.

The most awaiting moment of this blog post! aha definitely the most awaited moment of  Leo's life. What can we say, we all wanted him to win an Oscar and when it happened he broke the internet. I have not only seen people showing so much support for him to win this award but the fact that the memes and videos are way to funny to go with it too!

After 6 nominations and 23 years of hard work, Leo shows how you should never give up on your dreams and this will be the most memorable moment not only of his career but for all those people who wanted him to win! Congratulations Leo, We knew you could do it!!!!!

NYFW Fall 2016 #2 : Marchesa & Oscar De La Renta

February 26, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are well and Happy Friday! YAY! I have come to the realisation that Mid February to the start of March is very hectic for the fashion industry. All these fashion weeks happening all around the world. New York kicks everything off and it finishes in Paris, as well as making trips to London and Milan along the way. So you will know that over the next two weeks my posts will be about what the collections that stood out for me in those fashion weeks. This is so exciting.
As I said yesterday, I think it was.... Yeah it was yesterday. I would be releasing a part 2 to this post and here is it. I am going to talk about the dresses that blew the internet to pieces when the NYFW was going on. Let's get this party started!
On to all things NYFW.....
So as you can see by the title I have two designers that I will be talking about which are Marchesa and Oscar De La Renta. These two designers are exceptional at what they do. Even though I am not new to Oscar De La Renta's work, he always ceases to amaze me somehow. On the other hand Marchesa was the talk of all fashion magazines as I scrolled through my various social media.
To kick this off I will be talking about 8 Marchesa dresses because I was so amazed with there collection at New York Fashion Week. I got excited with the whole collection that I managed to short-list 8.
Marchesa
So here are my 4 shades of Gold Marchesa. As I was going through the whole collection I kept seeing glimmers of gold and I was like wow each dress represents the colour in a unique way. From the styles to the detail, everything is just magical!
Let's take the first dress for instance, the embellishment is just wow, you can see that a lot of  work has gone into this dress. The designer's vision has been executed brilliantly in the way that the embellishment does not go all the way down the dress. I think the right amount of balance has been struck here and the details of the dress reminds me of a forest princess, it has a quite earthy vibe don't you think?!
The second dress is totally different, the vibe you get from this dress is glitz, glamour and red carpet feel. I feel this dress would be perfect for the Oscars, the gold is not full on at all. It's a very elegant dress and has the shimmer in all the right places. And the bodice is amazing the detail is very simple and subtle but for me it's the skirt that steals the show! It sends me to a dream like state ......
Now the third dress is something you would see people of royalty wear. The cascading light sequin work going into the skirt. The skirt holds all the drama, overflowing tulle shaped in a ruffle like manner, it really is something. I think this dress is garment you stand back and think WOW, Marchesa  should be very proud!
The fourth dress is a favourite for the uniqueness out of the gold collection I have selected, my mind fails to express words for this dress. The dress is like a crochet/lace  styled pattern which I really like, it reminds me of something Dolce would do! And the colour is spectacular its like a matte gold with a slight shine finish! If I could pick one out of these four to wear it would definitely be the fourth dress!
Marchesa
If you have scrolled down to this point then I know you have enjoyed my thoughts on the Marchesa Gold collection. But we have not finished with Marchesa yet, there are another four dresses. These four each represent something different!
Starting with this royal blue midi dress, I have to say that the colour is exceptional. When looking through this collection my eye was drawn  to the colour straight away! It's vibrant and bright and you can see the little details popping out. I love the appliquéd flowers and the use of metallic embroidery for the leaves and stalk. Long sleeve never looked any better. But hold that thought.....
......As we move onto the next dress that has long sleeves. This pale pink dress is really pretty, I feel like it mimics what a little girl would wear, there is definitely a youthful feel to it! It is one for a girly girl, long maxi dress with a little pearly pink belt/waistband. The flowers are the right shade of pink to go with this light dress. You feel one with beautiful things, with this dress!
Do you remember when I said that each dress represents something different, well if this dress does not stand out then I don't know what does. One word..... Feathers. I have seen that feathers has made a real appearance into fashion recently and I feel it will really emerge into everyday fashion. The colour of dress is amazing, but the feathers give it that WOW factor that many people look for in a dress! I just love the way they sprout out of the dress.
Saving the best till last is an understatement when talking about Marchesa but this dress is amazing and quite mysterious. I think it's the colour that gives off this vibe for reason being it's dark and has striking dark purple flowers going down the dress. It's a dress with a difference and definitely a daring one for any girl to wear. I love the metallic black embroidery and the tulle is creeping in everywhere. There are so many variations of it in this dress, this dress is breathtaking. Marchesa please take a bow!
Oscar De La Renta
Wow I have finished Marchesa already and I head onto Oscar De La Renta.  Now his collection was quite simple but had hints of greatness running through it. Look at the coat for instance, it is very elegant and the style is very simple. It has a damask style pattern and that tie fur collar is so cute. I feel this trend will be staying with us for a little while, I mean what's life without little fur!
Moving onto the black dress, I really like the light sweet heart neckline and the bodice is really nice with the slight structure. The skirt is what made me include it. Lace, lace, and more lace, I just love the lace overlay it's one thing I cannot take my eyes away from! Simple but stylish!
Now the third dress is where the greatness has started to arose, the skirt is what I love! It's like a marble effect between the gold and black, its spectacular to look at ! Very well executed and I feel that gold is a colour this season to watch out for!
I don't know what it is with me but I am deeply drawn to the colour blue, I just love this colour and that is why I picked it. The sequin bodice is not overpowering which I really like, and the cage styled skirt is very similar to a watercolour wash! I feel that Oscar De La Renta has took some artistic vision and injected it into this collection which is really amazing!
Thank you for reading this post. I hope you enjoyed it, if you did then please leave a like!

NYFW Fall 2016 #1 : Starting with Two Designers

February 25, 2016

Hello my lovelies I hope you all are well. So I am going to aim to post this before it hits midnight in the UK, but looks like this might be unlikely. If I am successful actually finishing this post then you know I have hit that publish button and you have sat down to gander over the most awaited post. Also you have probably noticed that it says '#1' and you know what that means, Yes there will be a part 2 to NYFW! So make sure you stay tuned!
Enough rambling on to all things NYFW......
Now I have decided to talk about the first two designers that really rocked New York Fashion Week for me and they are Carolina Herrara and Tommy Hilfiger. They really rocked the catwalk for me and the pieces they showcased on the catwalk will give you all kinds of feels!
Carolina Herrara
Starting with Carolina Herrara, my first encounter with this designer was with her perfume 'Sexy 212' which I really liked in my teens, not so keen on it now. When I heard that she would be showcasing her new designs at NYFW I was rather intrigued and I thought I wonder what she will pull out the bag. Reason being I have had a glance at some of her previous collections and she stays with the pastel colours.
So I short-listed four dresses I adored from the new collection. the purple dress is really hot and sexy, especially that revealing bodice! That deep V neckline, is similar to a corset style but with a twist. I LOVE the colour very bright and vibrant for the season and the skirt is really flowy and delicate! Not what I expected.
Moving onto the second piece, there is something that draws me to it! Either it the colour of this refreshing pale mint skirt and the design of the skirt reminds me of wave like movements! What I am trying to say is it resembles ripples in the water, you know when rains drops onto a pond/lake! There is something peaceful about this piece! Amazing....
The third dress is a bit more structured and more fancy, from the spaghetti strap bodice to the full skirt with a slight train. I love the pretty flowers appliquéd onto the dress. Simple but very effective, the dress has a pearly shine to it which makes it that extra special.
The last dress is fairly simple but the skirt reminds me of petals and the colour is beautiful. A lovely dress to wear. If there was a meadow full of flowers then this dress would be there giving its pearly shine which would capture great likeness against the clear blue sky!
Tommy Hilfiger
So Tommy Hilfiger is a designer I heard alot of when growing up! Very well known designer worldwide. This collection was really distinct for me. Let's talk about Mr Hilfiger, now looking at the the first and last dress, do you sense a sailor vibe! Don't you think it reminds you of the dresses from the sailor style, but these dresses have definitely been revamped to suit this era. I tell you no sailor dress has ever had leather incorporated into it and neither has it been sequin decorated! I really like the way this collection has been thought out, difference with a twist!
The second outfit is the blouse, which has the infinity loop detail which is just WOW. I love the peter pan collar that goes with it! I think Gigi looks outstanding in this outfit and who thought a blouse would go this great with retro styled shorts! She looked hot and rocked the NYFW for me!
One piece I really adored was the cape that you see in the third image. I just love the way it falls and I feel that it is exactly what we need for the fall season later this year. I am really intrigued whether any high streets will actually adapt and incorporated this style for the upcoming fall/winter season!

Valentino February #4 Favourite Collections

February 23, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are well. I know that I did say that I was going to be posting a NYFW post on either the weekend or the start of this week (yesterday) but I want to tell you why I didn't post it. Yesterday morning I woke up to an email stating that my Google + Profile was suspended on grounds I will explain in my new video on the weekend. I was extremely distressed and worried but it has been restored now and I am so relieved. I will be posting part one of the NYFW tomorrow, so look out for that!

On to all things Valentino Garavani for the last time....

We have been on a right journey throughout the month and Valentino has showed us so much greatness as I have researched more into his career. So let's explore more into what I have loved.

I am going for the newer collection to start off with, these shoes have been the craze especially last year! I think every girl only dreams of owning a pair of Valentino shoes, even though I am not a fan of the pointed toe shoe, but I LOVE these shoes! I want to own a pair one day and treasure them forever! Any girl who wears a pair of Valentino's, you know they are wearing them for a special event!

From shades of red, to the intricacy of detail Valentino will be a designer that will always be known for knowing how to dress a women. He just knew how women felt in a dress and wanted to recreate every time he designed something new!

Paris Collection Spring/Summer 2006
This collection was an amazing one for me, especially when everyone was questioning about whether Valentino was going to retire after this or not. However when Valentino did decide to step down, he went out with a bang. If you want to know more about this collection then I do recommend you to watch his film. He shows you the behind the scenes of this collection as well as showcasing his 45th Anniversary collection, what a man!

I am going to leave you with some wise words from Mr Valentino Garavani,

'I wanted to show what really is couture. Many do it, few know how to do it.' - Valentino

'I love beauty. It's not my fault.' - Valentino

'I think I have succeeded through all these decades because I was always concerned with making beautiful clothes.' - Valentino

' I want to make a girl who arrives someplace make people turn and say - You Look Sensational!' - Valentino

That is all from this week, next week I will be introducing a new designer of the month.

Grammys 2016 : My Favourites

February 18, 2016

Hello my lovelies and I am back with the another post. We all know the media is overflowing with events this month. We had the BAFTAs on Sunday and the Grammys earlier this week and Oscars are at the end of the month, so you can see that I am going crazy. How does one keep up on these events?! It's a good question, but I am coping.

On to all things Grammys.......

We all know  how big this event is for the music industry, this is the award all musicians/artists etc dream of picking up. This gives me another chance to look at who rocked the red carpet at the Grammys this year.

I short-listed 4 dresses, each having something different. And trust me when I say this, there were some weird outfits on the red carpet this year. It is pretty much expected from those people though!

Selena Gomez in Calvin Klein

I had to start with Selena Gomez, She looked perfect! Not only does she have the perfect figure but I don't think I have seen such a sexy sequin gown in my life. I mean could sequins be this sexy, Selena definitely proved they are. She definitely dazzled everyone's hearts when she walked down the red carpet. From the plunging neckline to the cutaways to that sexy open back, she amazed everyone, that no one could stop talking about the dress!

Taylor Swift in Atelier Versace

Taylor Swift made a statement not only by picking up a few Grammys up herself but this dress, is out of this world! She chose a two piece outfit, the simple orange bandeaux top to this lovely pearly shine bright pink skirt that has so many things going on. The lovely high waisted maxi skirt with a very high slit is amazing!

Adele in Givenchy

I like how Adele went for an elegant black gown with hints of sparkle shimmering in the light. I think she looked beautiful, and we all know that alot people love black so this could be the gown for you! Also she really is rocking that bob it goes nicely with this long gown.

Ariana Grande in Romono Keveza

This is the first time I have come across this designer and I am simply WOWed by the dress. First of all the colour is just the right shade of red. I love the fluted skirt with the long train it's so beautiful and that corset styled bodice is very sexy but gives the dress an elegant feel!

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it. If you did then please leave a like!

BAFTA's 2016 Red Carpet Dresses

February 17, 2016

my lovelies I hope you all are well. I know what everyone is thinking another post? Out of the blue? Well so many things are happening in the fashion industry from award shows to fashion weeks! It's hard to keep up being a fashion blogger. So I thought I start with the BAFTA's and work my way through. I may possibly do a Grammy's post and expect some NYFW (New York Fashion Week) ones by the end to start of next week.
On to all things BAFTA's.......
So I actually spent Valentine's evening watching the BAFTA's it was so good. And I was amazed
with the dresses that rocked the Red carpet this year. I have selected my top 6.
Left to right
Annabelle Wallis, Olga Kurylenko and Cate Blanchett
Annabelle Wallis in Oscar De La Renta

Starting with Annabelle,  this dress is so beautiful. For those people who do not know Oscar De La Renta by name you will definitely remember the dress. From the vibrant shade of red to the chiffon/sheer styled ruffled high neckline and that slit gives the dress that extra edge! It's really beautiful and elegant yet fiery and sexy at the same time! Valentine's is not the same without someone wearing red!

Olga Kurylenko in Ralph & Russo

Now moving onto to Olga her gown is from Ralph & Russo and they are amazing designers. Not only did they rock at Paris Couture Week, I am shocked that more celebrities didn't consider there gowns! Everyone knows I am a lover of lace and this lace work is amazing, white is such a lovely clean colour and really stands out on a red carpet! Lace and sheer are such a great pair and you can never go wrong when choosing such a dress.

Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen

Cate's dress is something you don't really see, but it's definitely a head turner because there is so much going on. This is the first time I am mentioning a Alexander McQueen dress and I have heard this designer is all about the statement and we can see that with the feathered skirt, it's WOW! Not only does the sequin embellished bodice make you stop to admire the dress, your eyes follow down the gown to that black feathered skirt!
Left to right
Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet and Julianne Moore
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vitton

Alicia has great fashion sense, the reason I say that is she has made an appearance in another Red carpet short-list, I mentioned her dress she wore to the Golden Globes which you can check out below.  This Louis Vitton gown is so different and amazing, not only is it constructed from matte black leather. It has tinsel like lines running down the dress, this is the perfect glitzy LBD (Little Black Dress)!

Kate Winslet in Antonio Berardi

Kate's dress is a timeless dress, showing her beautiful curvaceous figure in this lovely black simple gown. The simplicity is enough, but its the little touches that makes it a mesmerising dress. It's the across the shoulder asymmetrical sleeve and the edgy neckline that makes this dress stand out!

Julianne Moore in Giorgio Armani

Finishing with the amazing Julianne her gown brings something different to the red carpet and I love the monochrome look going on. With a slight extending train to the black shoulder straps being draped all the way down to the floor makes the dress look effortless, that's one way to rock a red carpet!

Valentino February #3 Book & Film Review

February 16, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you are well. So as I mentioned last week I am going to be talking about the sources I have used in this month's designer of the month to assist me in gathering knowledge to write these posts. When this post comes along I come to the realisation that the Valentino February is coming to an end. The month has gone so fast!

On to all things Valentino .....

The sources I used this month was a book and a film.

Vogue on: Valentino Garavani (Vogue on Designers) - £14.88

If you have been following the Designer of the month series then you know I have really liked using the Vogue on Designers books because I feel they really capture the essence of the information you need to start off with. The Valentino Garavani one is really good, there are more images of the dresses he designs. There is alot of good information about his career I found very intriguing and useful when creating the posts for this month.

If you were not much of a Valentino fan before then after this book I think you will be, not only does it capture him as a designer, it captures him as a person which is really amazing!

Valentino: The Last Emperor [DVD] - £9.96

The DVD was AMAZING! It gives you a great insight into how he is as a designer and how he has lasted 45 years in the industry! He's a designer many fashion designers only dream of being, I loved the line "I love beauty" and that is what he manages to capture in every collection. Hands down my favourite designer so far in this series!

He talks about how he always wanted to be a fashion designer, there are glimpses of how manic things are when getting the models ready for the catwalk to making sure the garments are ready to be seen by the world. And how can I forget the partnership between Valentino Garavani and Giancario Giammetti, definitely a film you need to watch if your a lover of fashion!

That is all from this week, next week I will be doing my favourite Valentino collections to finish Valentino February off.

Thank you for reading this post, if you enjoyed it then please leave a like!

SS16 : Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab

February 12, 2016

Hello my lovelies I hope you all are well and Happy Friday! I am back with a fashion inspired post. I know many of my readers enjoy these types of posts about famous designers releasing new collections. I have released two posts on the Paris Couture Week where I spoke about four designers who rocked the catwalk. But these two designers are my absolute favourite, they were the designers I mentioned when I newly started blogging.
On to all things Designers......

I am going to start off with Zuhair Murad, now this designer is amazing when it comes to painting a picture in your mind. The pieces Zuhair Murad designs are breathtaking and makes you stand back and admire what has been created! I have short-listed my top 6 designs from the 2016 collection.

Zuhair Murad

The first outfit is something I really admire, from the lace trousers which I feel will be a great trend to hit the fashion retailers this season but the top is magnificent, the collared detail, peplum waist, sheer sleeves, AMAZING!

Now the second outfit is so dramatic, They have taken a duster coat style and added a gown type skirt, so it resembles a cape style but on a different level. I just LOVE it. Imagine only seeing the back of the woman and thinking what a lovely gown and then BAM she turns around and your left shell shocked that it is in fact a jacket!

The third outfit being the mini dress, is very different. My initial thoughts on this piece is that my eye drew to the bodice at first, the lines running down the bodice is a really nice touch. Also the shaping of the neckline is curved which gives emphasis to the caged skirt. I really like how the skirt has a sense of stiffness to it!

Zuhair Murad

Now these long gowns are really something, I feel Zuhair Murad really knows floral this season and these three dresses all represent that.

Looking at the first dress, it really brings out the vine/branch detail they have going on. The way they have designed this dress shows they have paid attention to how they wanted people to see the dress. Confused? Let me explain, this dress shows how the vines and branches are running down the dress like how they would actually grow in nature. It is really beautiful.

The second dress is a favourite and if I could wear one then I would definitely pick this one. First of all the colour is really lovely, so subtle yet so refreshing. I love how it is shorter at the front with a long train at the back, its so magical! Th floral detail is scattered like how you would find flowers if they had fallen on the dress, and the pops of colour from the reds to the pinks make it really special!

Now the last dress is quite something, the colour is something not alot of people would warm to but its not too strong instead its light which makes people more intrigued. The cascading floral detail on the bodice following down the dress is really nice, but the flowing skirt is what I really like. It reminds me of a petal moving in the wind!

Wow so I took you on a Journey through the world of Zuhair Murad and my favourite 6 pieces from this new collection. But I haven't stopped there so continue to scroll down......

Now Elie Saab is a designer I adore for his eye for detail in the way he embellishes dresses, they are mesmerising and I can see that there has been a lot of hard work put into each and every dress he designs. Like Zuhair Murad I have short-listed 6 dresses for Elie Saab.

Elie Saab
The blush coloured dress is one I really like,  for so many reasons. If you have been following my blog for some time then you know I am a lover of lace, and lace work is incredible on this dress. The bohemian style to the dress is really nice, I feel like I could wear this if I attended a beach wedding. From the long sleeves to the frills which add great movement to the dress, definitely one I would treasure for ever.

So the next two dresses really show my love for tulle. This type of tulle is not overpowering it adds to the dress itself to complete it. What brought my eyes to attention is the details on the bodices.

Looking at the lilac/mauve dress, the bodice is really different. High necked neckline with at peplum frill at the bottom, but the embellishment reminds me of something you would find in history, so it gives the model a timeless feel!

The white gown on the other had is very princessy, it's the type of dress a princess would wear to a ball, the detail is just right to give you a sparkle in all the right places. The belt is a really lovely touch, who would have thought it, that a belt would make the finishing piece to the dress!

Elie Saab
These three gowns bring something different, and gives it that extra edge to it.

I picked another white lace styled dress, which for me gives off a victorian feel. I love how Elie Saab has incorporated many different patterns and shapes into one dress, and I would definitely consider adding this to my wish list but I would be scared to ruin the true beauty if something got spilled on it.

This blue dress first of all has a great bold colour to it. This dress reminds me of a modern take on an Indian sari. I love the thick strap style fabric being draped across to the waist and the skirt screams drama! From the sheer fabric to the small embellished detail to embroidery it really is portraying a sense of elegance!
The last gown has a key feature which I really liked and feel many designers may incorporate this feature in future designs to come. And that feature is the criss cross deep V neckline, it's really something isn't it?! It shows off enough flesh and gives the dress that extra edge to it!

Wow as this post has came to an end I have realised this is my 100th post, what a way to hit a milestone!

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it. If you did then please leave a like!
