Paris Couture Week 2016 - What You Need To Know

January 30, 2016

Hello my lovelies I hope you all are well and are having a great weekend so far. Well where do I start with the Paris Couture Week which started last Saturday. I have been following it closely on Social media and I have been surprised and amazed with all the collections that have been showcased on the catwalk.
I am going to post a part 2 to this as their are another two designers I want to talk about, But let's get onto the two that stood out for me, over this past week, first.
On to all things designers...
The two designers that caught my eye first were Ralph & Russo and Giambattista Valli.
Ralph & Russo

So starting with Ralph & Russo, these dresses were so different yet really beautiful. Starting with the black dress I love the skirt its AMAZING, it's definitely the statement feature on the dress.

The cream and gold dress has a sense of freedom to it, the frills remind me of jellyfish when they move in the water. There's is something magical about that dress!

The last dress is quite simple but it does not stray away from drama with that feathered styled bodice and embellished skirt. I feel this pale blue/ periwinkle colour is going to be great for the movement of Winter to Spring, it's so light and subtle.

Giambattista Valli
Moving onto Giambattista Valli, now for those who have been following my blog for some time will know that I have mentioned Giambattista Valli many times, especially in my recent post about the Golden Globes 2016. I really like his attention to detail as well the versatility he possesses.

The red dress is a lovely poppy colour as well as being overflowing with layering of fabric. This dress is definitely in competition with the existing tulle skirts right know. But if you look at the skirt it kind of reminds me of a paintbrush, but this would look great against snowy scenery.

The other two dresses really reflect Spring for me, as you can never go wrong with flowers and floral detail. The black dress with the flower detailed spaghetti strap and the rose embroidery is mesmerizing!

The white skirt on the third dress with the cascading blue flowers is simple but very well executed! It looks like they are falling off the skirt.

Thank you for reading this post. If you enjoyed it then please leave a like!

Balenciaga January #4 Five Favourite Pieces

January 28, 2016

Hello my lovelies and welcome to the last Balenciaga January post, I hope you enjoyed the journey around Spain I took you upon and you were surprised at what he was like as a designer. I know this post is a tad late, but I am here and ready to put an end to Balenciaga January!

On to all things Balenciaga for the very last time....

Cristobal Balenciaga, Evening Ensemble, Fall/Winter 1963, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
So I am going through my favourite five pieces that Balenciaga designed. I will also leave a link down below on where I got these images from.

I really like this evening dress he designed, when you look at this piece you admire the embellishment alot. It's beautiful and to be a Fall/Winter dress is simply great, you think about all the parties that would be coming up for these ladies who picked this particular dress! It's an amazing dress for 1963.

Cristobal Balenciaga, Evening Dress, Fall/Winter, 1968, Palais Galliera, Paris

Now I really have a likeness for this baby pink coloured dress, there is something angelic about it. I feel that this dress was a great choice for the Fall/Winter because you can imagine how great this dress would look in the snowy weather! The petals and feather remind me of how they would freeze up in the cold weather, it's just a great style. It's astounding to believe this was created it 1968.

Cristobal Balenciaga, Evening Bolero, Fall/Winter 1946, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
So we go back in time to an early piece he designed. We know Balenciaga comes from a Spanish heritage, and this type of bolero had to be created at some point in his career. I love this Spanish bolero, from this piece you can see that it had a bit of Cristobal in it and truly reflects his Spanish culture. The lace appliqués and the tassels are great and the black and red colour contrast yells Spain to me!

Cristobal Balenciaga, Evening Dress, 1938, Fashion Institute of Technology, New York
The simplicity of this dress is just breath taking, what's not to love about this dress! I think this type of dress could be revamped and make a comeback into fashion, but with a modern twist!

Now the last piece is this lovely dress worn by the supermodel Stephanie Seymour, from the colour to the style. Balenciaga sure knew how to get it right when it came to fashion!

Let's end this post with a quote.....

'A good couturier must be an architect in planning, a sculptor in form, a painter in colour, a musician in harmony and a philosopher in proportion'.
- Balenciaga

National Television Awards 2016 - Worst & Best Dressed

January 22, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you are all well. Now if you live in the UK then you may be aware that the National Television Awards (NTA's) aired on Wednesday. I did not get a chance to watch the whole event, but I did manage to look at the fashion aspect of the award show as well as who won!

Let's get onto all things NTA's.......

Now I don't like to point out those people who didn't think about what they wore when walking down the red carpet. However I felt this post had to be done, so I am going to talk about who I thought was the worst dressed at the NTA's and the best dressed!

Starting with worst dressed, I have short listed three people who I thought really surprised people on the Red Carpet and not in a good way.

1. Michelle Keegan
So Michelle Keegan really shocked alot of people, some newspapers named her as the worst dressed. Very shocking isn't it? Let's just have a look at her outfit for a minute, what is that?! The tulle skirt is fine, but the top half just looks like she tied a pieced a cloth to herself. I mean we get they are television celebrities but really, you could have tried a bit harder!

2. Jorgie Porter
Now many of us know her for hollyoaks and if you haven't heard of Jorgie you will never forget her for the I'm a celebrity food trial. I just don't understand what she is wearing, there are so many things wrong with it. I mean is this really red carpet worthy? She wore a better dress when she came out of the jungle for the after party.

3. Lady C
Now this lady the whole public will never forget after the havoc she caused on social media and even in the newspaper whilst being in the jungle. One question I ask myself is if she is a lady, then why the hell is she wearing this? That dress is so bad, even my big fat gypsy wedding dresses look better and you know where I'm coming from!

After laughing and wondering what on earth possessed those ladies in the worst dressed category, we move onto the ladies who stood out me.

1. Vicky Pattison
Starting with the queen of the jungle, she really does know how to rock a red carpet when acquiring such a title. This lovely white gown with that statement neckline really made a lot of people stop and admire, a lady in white can always be right!

2. Jacqueline Jossa
I love this strapless gown Jacqueline is wearing, she looks so beautiful. Can we just take a moment and admire how great this woman looks after having a baby. She has all the curves to make this dress and carries it with true elegance.

3. Kara Tointon
Kara's dress is very bridal but it's really beautiful. I love the lace sheer neckline and the flowful skirt. It looks so angelic, I think the white dresses were definitely a hit for this year's award show.

And lastly I am really happy that Danny Dyer won the award for serial drama performance, he is an amazing actor! He so deserves it for his performance in EastEnders, he portrayed Mick very well.

Balenciaga January #3 Book Reviews

January 19, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are having a lovely week. I am back at university, and it feels weird how I will be finished by May which is not far away. But let's not focus on that now *pushes that to the corner of my brain*
So we have come to the third week of the month where I start to review and talk about the sources I have used in order to write these posts.

On to all things Balenciaga.....

As I started to explore Spain, I used two useful books to help me understand and gather knowledge on Cristobal Balenciaga.

Vogue on Cristobal Balenciaga (Vogue on Designers) - £13.49

As you know I have used the Vogue On Designers books on the previous two designers. I think they are very good books, for Balenciaga I felt it gave you basic all round knowledge about who the designer was. There were lots of images and quotes from his collections and from what people actually thought about him. I think it's a good book to start off with, when researching this particular designer.

Balenciaga - £19.99

Now this book, I was sceptical about at first when I opened it. The reason being that it's a lengthy book and has a lot of information filled on the pages. So this book required more time to read. However I am glad I invested in this book because it gave me a further insight into the framework of Balenciaga and using both of these books has helped me in preparing for these posts. This has great images of particular stand out collections and goes into greater detail, which is great for me.

That is all from this week, thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did then please leave a like!

Golden Globes 2016 Iconic Dresses

January 15, 2016

Hello my lovelies and Happy Friday. As this week is coming to an end and the weather is getting colder and colder, I thought lets talk about my view on iconic dresses that rocked the Red Carpet at the Golden Globes 2016.
On to all things Golden Globes......

When any red carpet comes along what I look forward to most is the dresses that these famous celebrities will be showcasing more than anything.

1. Jennifer Lopez wearing Giambiattista Valli. Let's start with the gorgeous Jennifer Lopez not only does she look great for her age she has definitely picked a stunner dress here. Giambiattista Valli are really loving this marigold colour and it reminds me of summer! The high thigh slit gives the dress an edge!

2. Jamie Alexander wearing Genny. Jamie Alexander really rocked the red carpet for me, this gown was stand out. It was different with a deep V neck to the shimmer in the patterns. Paired with simple accessories made this gown more timeless.

3. Emmy Rossum wearing Armani Prive. A simple red dress that is figure hugging showing off all the curves you need to start the new year off. You can never go wrong with a elegant red dress!

4. Alicia Vikander wearing Louis Vuitton. From ex machina to Danish girl, this woman is always surprising us. This classic white pleated dress with the frilly neckline portrays a sense of elegance. She sure knows how to pick them!

Now I am moving onto the more glitzy and embellished dresses from some of my favourite designers.

1. Eva Green wearing Elie Saab. Elie Saab is one of my favourite designers right now, he never seems to disappoint. The admiration of the amount of embellishment that goes into his dresses is outstanding. I love colour and Eva knows that she picked a great gown!

2. Leslie Mann wearing Monique Lhuillier. Pink tulle skirt paired with falling floral embellishment, what more can any girl want! I simple love this colour and it is a very feminine type of dress great for any award show!
3. Rosie Huntington- Whiteley wearing Atelier Versace. Another gold gown to announce an golden moment in her life. She showed off her engagement ring while wearing such a sexy dress, Rosie knows how to make a golden moment count!

4. Jenna Dewan Tatum wearing Zuhair Murad. Leaving best to last is definitely a understatement by looking at all the dresses I have talked about. When it comes to a Zuhair Murad and its navy blue colour I always think of the night sky. Deep V neck, glitter and sparkle, married to Channing Tatum and taking pictures with Will smith and his wife pretty much sums up this women's Golden Globes experience!

Thank you for reading this post. I hope you enjoyed reading about my thoughts on the Golden Globes this year, if you did then be sure to leave a like!

Look Magazine Weekly #18th January

January 14, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are doing well. I am back with a LOOK Weekly, it's been some time now since I have posted this. I thought why not explore what new trends are creeping up this year!

On to all things LOOK.......

So recently I have been doing a lot of shopping so make sure you watch this space on the weekend because there will be a haul video going live! Anyway I have been seeing that slip - ons trainers/pumps what ever they are called, are a trend that is arising. Don't get me wrong I never use to like these types of shoes, but recently I have really grown to love them. I am currently looking for my own pair, they look super comfy and you can rock them with various styles, depending on the design you get. I totally agree with the LOOK writers when they say our feet need a break after the festive period. So ladies make sure you consider this shoes!

If you have wondered onto my blog you have probably seen my recently updated photo where I am wearing a fedora! I have recently invested in two fedoras which you can check out in the upcoming haul! I am really loving the fedora, normally I feel that they would not suit me, but then I thought to hell with it, Just buy the DAMN FEDORA which I DID! Now since I started this blog Teal has been my favourite colour and when I saw that the fedora's are now in Teal and it's trending I need to go and invest! I am so going on the hunt for a Teal fedora. If your a girl like me and you feel a fedora might not suit you, just stop thinking and buy that damn hat!

There are three style picks this week which are from Zara, Oasis and Converse.
Zara is great for many types of clothing but one item that caught my eye is this nude styled dress, its so cute and the colour is so light and subtle which I really like. It is on the pricey side (£49.95) but if you are going somewhere special or want to feel special then this could be a dress to consider. I quite like the simplicity of it!

Moving on to Oasis, this floral embroidered dress (£70) is great for the weather right now, paired with a long sleeved top and thick tights, you'll look fashionable as well as warm.

The last style pick is the silver chrome Converse which are amazing. This is not the first time I have discovered these, when I was browsing for trainers I found these and I was like I want them but they did not have my size :( (sad times). If you are interested in buying a pair you can get them on the Converse website for £44.99  they even have a gold pair, so what are you waiting for! - Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Chrome Leather
Thank you reading this post, If you enjoyed this post, then please leave a like!

Balenciaga January #2 Fashion History of his Career

January 12, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are well. So we are still in Balenciaga January and are travelling far and wide through the depths of Spain. Let's explore into what made this designer an unforgettable man as well as him being a rival of Mr Dior.

On to all things Balenciaga.....

When Balenciaga came to France to set up his career in 1937, the first thing they noticed about the clothes he designed was not the cut of his clothes but the blackness they possessed. He was the definition of Black that Harper Bazaar called it Balenciaga's blacks.

He was a rising star but was a remote one in the aspect of not interacting with the media or even seeing clients. A socialite Gloria Guinness spoke about his shy nature, and how his work did not cloud that shyness because he made people believe in his work. He wasn't a person who was interested in people or even money. This guy sounds amazing to me, I love how all his focus, drive and attention was for the world of fashion.

Many of the collections he designed for women; he always strove for comfort in his day clothes, but when it came to evening dresses he always wanted to add that little extra bit of imaginative touch to it. One thing I find quite humorous is the fact that Dior and Balenciaga were often in competition when their collections were launching. But that is not the humour part, where Dior always had a name for the collection he was releasing. Balenciaga did not think of names for the collections, so the press had to invent names that would be suitable for these collections. That's probably why we have not really heard of his world famous collections because the man behind the brand did not name his most famous collections.

Balenciaga always designed styles that were practical so it could fit women of all types of figures. He felt that clothing should be simple, with less buttons, fastenings etc. He wanted all figure types to be happy with their figure so he would often ignore the waistline in some of his collections. This was called the "Ease of Balenciaga", he wanted the garment to have a ease of movement and  leaving room for breathing.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did then please leave a like!

New Year, New Goals

January 08, 2016

Hello my lovelies, since its a New Year I wanted to talk about what everyone thinks about when a new year approaches. So we know everyone says new year new goals, people set goals for what they want to achieve by the end of the year.
Do I think this is a good thing? Well I think you should have a range of goals for the next 12 months, whether that is short term or long term goals. If you feel that 2015 was a year you do not want to think about then, leave it in the past and grow from it. But if your 2015 was a great year, full of turning points, achievements and hitting targets you set out, then that's great and remember to keep doing what you are doing.
Then comes the people like me, I am starting 2016 with some goals I need to finish from 2015 before I can move forward to what I want in life. Time is of the essence if you ever feel that the path you are going along is something you do not want to do, then start exploring other options because I started 2015 like that. I didn't really have many goals and I didn't think that I would be talking to my fellow friends right now or even writing a blog.
Growth is something you learn as you experience life, and I do not like the concept of New Year New Me. You shouldn't have to change anything about yourself to suit others, you should learn to love yourself and be happy in your own personal space. I feel that when a new year comes it should be about improving yourself and growing as a person. You should be learning new things and evolving as a person because change is constant and it's something you have to learn to cope with.
So set some goals for yourself this year whether they are short term goals (like monthly ones) or set some long term goals ( like what you would like to achieve or gain in 6 months)  and take it from there. One thing I have learnt is you cannot plan where you want to be in 3 to 5 years because it is so far away. So much can happen in those years that might alter what you initial set out to achieve but there is no problem with having an idea of what you would want by then.
I have left you with some quotes to make the mind tick:

My Goals for 2016
  • Stick to a blog schedule and post diverse content
  • Plan and Film interesting videos
  • Finish my degree
  • And go out of my comfort zone a little more

Thank you for reading this post. If you enjoyed it then please leave a like!

What are your goals for this year?

Balenciaga January #1 Balenciaga as a Designer

January 06, 2016

Hello my lovelies and welcome to the first blog post of the year!
Now before I start this post, I have made a school girl error already and I would like to apologise. If you are wondering what I am rambling on about, it is that I revealed the Designer of the Month in my recent video. In my video I stated that Balenciaga is an Italian designer as well stating it in my last Dior post. I would like to correct this because Balenciaga is actual a SPANISH designer. #AwkwardMomentOf2016SoFar

With that cleared up,
On to all thing Balenciaga.....

We have now left Paris and are heading over to Spain! Aloha Amigos!!
Cristobal Balenciaga was very influential in his time, but if I am honest I didn't really know much about him and his collections. But this is good because we can all learn things about new people.

He was a very well established designer of his time and started designing very young. He met Miss Chanel and learnt a great deal from her because he has designed work in Paris. It was said that he had competition with Mr Christian Dior but Balenciaga seen nothing of it. These two designers dominated the Parisian Haute Couture after the Second World War.

Much of his inspiration came from the country he was born in as well as his mother paying a great influence to some of his early designs.

That is all from this week's post, I hope you enjoyed it. If you did please leave a like.

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

January 03, 2016

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
I am back with a new video where I reflect about how 2015 was quite a life changing year and what to expect from 2016. I have also mentioned what this month's designer (which I accidentally said was Italian when he is Spanish, sorry) will be as well as changes happening to my upload schedule.
I apologise for the quality is not as the best, it's because the natural lighting was not helping and it continued to rain.
