1 Year of Blogging - Blog Anniversary (Advice + Reflection)

May 23, 2016

Hello my lovelies and Welcome to a new blog post. I hit a milestone yesterday as my blog turned 1! Yes I have been blogging for a year now, to me it doesn't feel like a year has gone past. I have enjoyed everything I have written and posted on my blog and I am proud of how far I have come.
This post will not only discuss advice for people who want to start blogging but I will share my reflection of the past year.

On to all things Blogging......

What advice could I give to people who want to start blogging?

1. Subject Area
I would say that you will need to have a particular area that you are passionate about. That was the starting point for me, as my blog focuses on Fashion. To be honest the subject area could be something that you may relate to, for example a hobby or it could be something completely different. Remember if it is something no one has done before then definitely go for it, if you are passionate about. The reason why I say that you should go for it, is because you could be the first to make a difference in that subject and take it to the height it has never gone before.

2. Planning
Before I created my blog I was planning for couple of months. Firstly I started with what blogging platform I wanted, I looked at Tumblr and WordPress but decided Blogger was the platform for me as it was very accessible and easy to use. I thought about what I could bring to stand out as a blogger and looked at many blogs via Bloglovin. This is another good platform to consider when starting to blog as you can keep up to date with other bloggers and you connect your own blog on there.

3. Blog Name
Now for me, the blog name is the most important. It's important because this is what people will remember you for. I wrote down about 30 different blog names and I narrowed  it down to, two names in the end, then I picked  FashtasticFlare. I wanted a play on word, Fashtastic means 'Fashion That is Fantastic'. Some people want to be remembered perhaps for their name and other prefer something different, I wanted to create a brand like Zoella, SprinkleOfGlitter, IISuperwomanII, InTheFrow, Fleur DeForce etc. So think about what you really want your blog to be called, and how you want to be remembered!

4. Content
Write about things that interest you and try not to focus too much on what other people may like. Remember this is you expressing your passion on the internet and it can be a daunting experience. So try to be creative and imaginative with your ideas. I researched alot, when it came to blog ideas, and I have used some of them but I did created many along the way.

5. Social Media
I created separate social media as I wanted those accounts to be related solely to blogging. I feel it's better to create social media accounts that relate to your blog so people can find you easily and you will attract those kinds of people who share the same interest. I choose to keep personal areas of my life private, the funny thing is that only some of my friends know I blog and family, well alot of my family doesn't know. So it's your decision on what you post on those accounts as well as your personal social media.

Reflection My 1st Year of Blogging
Over the past year my blogging experience has really helped me. I have grown as a person and realised that I can achieve great things with my blog through my writing but it has not been a straight line. When I started my blog I really threw myself in the deep end and at times I was lacking self belief. When I created my accounts and blog on the 15th May 2015, it took me a whole week to post my first blog post. The response was amazing and I continued along the scary journey.

Like many people I was not all for putting my face on the internet but as the months went on I did start to record videos as I wanted to expand my horizons and keep my options open and I loved it! I guess that was where I started to build confidence and posted more about myself and images to go along with it. I have not yet conjured the confidence to post personal selfies on social media, but I think these things take time. I am not going to do it, if I am not comfortable with it.

There have been times in the year where I have experienced bloggers block and struggled to come up with ideas and there have been periods where I have not written alot of posts in a month. I think the things I have learnt is trying to keep up with fashion happening in the industry at the time should be paced out. As you the know fashion weeks are posts that hit you full on, and can become a problem when trying to post in time constraints. However I feel you don't necessarily need to post when it is going on, you post when you feel you are ready to publish the blog post. People are concerned with the writing, so always remember that!

I have created and continued series on my blog and I feel for me, I love having series. As I feel it gives people something to come back to and look forward to every week. You will have to trial many things and some of them will work and some won't, that's just life! I changed many things in blog and I felt they didn't work but I always made sure that my content is originally to myself and they showcase my expression of what I love!

I finish my post with some quotes that will make you think a little...

Thank you for reading my post and here's to more years!

Milan Fashion Week AW16 #2 - Gucci and Versace

May 20, 2016

Hello my lovelies I hope you are having a great day and looking forward to the weekend! I know what you are thinking, she's back with another post! Yes I wanted to finish Milan Fashion Week this week, So here I am!

On to all things Milan Fashion Week....

So in my first Milan Fashion Week which I posted yesterday, the designer that was featured was Dolce & Gabbana. In this post I really like these two designers, for the reason being that they are so different from each other and I loved the pieces they designed in their new collection.

Versace is not really a stranger to my blog as I have mentioned the designer before in award show/red carpet posts. Whereas Gucci is new, because I don't think I have really talked about there clothes, but they really stood out in Milan for me.

Gucci

As Gucci is new to my blog, let's start with their collection first. I really like the colours and patterns, Gucci have used. What I love about the first dress is the floral bodice matched with the patterned skirt, I never thought that this shade of green would look so good against the pink roses!

I'm telling you collars are a thing this upcoming season and expect them to be incorporated with many dresses. I am interested to see what high street shops will do with these designs! The satin/silk baby pink dress will go well for evening wear, and it's such a simplicity design that makes an impact anywhere!

What I adore most about the red dress is the ruffles on the sleeves and fur styled cuffs on the end of the sleeves, amazing! Now not only does the last dress feature one of my favourite fabric's which is velvet, but the chiffon sheer sleeves look really nice!

Gucci

Moving onto the accessories, well what can I say Gucci like to make an impact with their outfits but that does not mean they stray away from detail. Check out those zebra heels with a tale, so cool and different which I like! And the bags are WOW, I would add them to my wishlist!

Versace

Now Versace kept it quite simple by experimenting with blue hues, but I love the leather they introduced. Very shiny and really goes well with each piece. I think in the upcoming season we will be seeing more of the fabric leather because there is so much you can do with it, plus having a leather skirt in your wardrobe will always give your outfit an edge.

I really like the leather skirt Versace has designed plus partnered with a jumper is practically my best friend. As I have a bit of a jumper obsession! Plus the colour is really nice and would go with a number of outfits. But what's interesting is the leather coat that has been partnered with the fur, it's very intriguing and perfect for rain weather, all UK people can relate!

Versace

Now the Versace bags are *insert heart eyed emoji here* I just love the range of styles they have. But if you look carefully the round pompom accessory that has been a craze lately, Versace has transformed it into a furry skunk tail, which I think is cute!

That is all for this post, I hope you enjoyed reading the post.

If you did then please leave a like and why not leave a comment below telling me your favourite Gucci or Versace piece!

Milan Fashion Week AW16 #1 - Dolce & Gabbana

May 19, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are well. Now I know it's been a week since I last posted, but I trying to get back into the groove of blogging again. I was not very well hence why the post is late. But enough jibba jabba, let's get on with the post.

On to all things still fashion week.......

Now we have left London and flown to the lovely country of ice cream and pizza, yes you guessed right Italiaaa! The fashion capital in Italy is Milan, which you probably already know. This post will feature one of my favourite Italian designer's Dolce & Gabbana, I think what draws me most to there collections is their work with lace, but this collection will feature all sorts of fabrics and designs.

Shall we scroll down to see my favourites from this collection....

Now sequins is what hit the magazines first and had everyone talking about it, as this was what was shown at the end of the catwalk. So you know I had to include a piece, it's trend that has been creeping in for a while but I think it has finally established itself as a garment people would wear!

The collars are where my eye is drawn to alot in this collection, as I feel they go well with these dresses. The embellishment and beading is outstanding and really make the outfit pop. I feel that these dresses each represent something unique and different, I love the versatility. Even though these dresses are for the Autumn and Winter collection, I feel they could easily be worn in the Spring and Summer as well! The designs are amazing and I could see myself in that houndstooth dress (on the right).

Now as I mentioned I love their lace dresses, so I had to include the ones that stood out for me. I never thought that lace and velvet would go together, but Dolce & Gabbana have combined these two fabrics very well. You do not look at the dress as a singular piece, instead you let your eye follow the dress around the whole garment, you appreciate the little details it holds.

The second dress is something I really adore and I never thought I would like something that is designed in such a clever way. The lace dress acts as a overlay which reveals the under garments, and I think it is very effective. The thing with lace is that you don't need to do anything extravagant with it, as it can look beautiful and effective from a simple design. And they did exactly that!

I really like that handbag paired with the outfit, as it added a vintage feel to the outfit and lace often carries that vibe with it!

As I come to the end of the post, I wanted to go out with their accessories, which is something you don't usually see me talk about. As I said with Dolce & Gabbana it's all about the small details and you can really admire this from there box clutches to their footwear. You can see how these accessories really bring outfits together, and they give off a magical and fairytale vibe. I really like the carriage inspired accessory paired with a Cinderella inspired shoe which is really magical. Also the watch box clutch really reminds me of something you would find in Alice in Wonderland!

For me I admire the work Dolce & Gabbana do in designing and creating everything in their collection, they execute every piece very well and you are left speechless by the end result!

That is all for this post, I hope you enjoyed reading the post.

If you did then please leave a like and why not leave a comment below on your favourite Dolce & Gabanna piece!

London Fashion Week AW16 - McQueen and Macdonald

May 12, 2016

Hello my lovelies, I hope you all are well. Yes I am finally back. It feels so long since I have written a post. As I said in my previous post I will be continuing with the fashion weeks and I have some exciting ones planned, so watch this space!

So let's talk all things London Fashion Week.....
London Fashion Week (LFW)  had a lot of impact on various social media and their were many designers who made an statement in this fashion week. For me I didn't really see many designers stand out or catch my eye in my taste of fashion BUT their were two designers that totally out did themselves in London! It was two designers who begin with the letter M!

Alexander McQueen

Starting with Alexander McQueen, he is no stranger to my blog! For those who follow my blog will know that my March designer of the month was Alexander McQueen. I short-listed 4 outfits that I really liked at LFW. Now Sarah Burton out did herself in this collection, there was like a fairytale dream theme to it.

Each outfit has a hint of sparkle or a free flow of fabric in it. The features I love from the blush pink dress firstly is the colour. it is really light and delicate and will really pop in the winter time. I love the lace detail, it gives a feminine vibe to the dress and the pleating coming through the skirt is something I am loving right now.

The black dress on the other hand is really edgy which I love, the leather front and the velvet sleeves is something I would love to invest in and I feel high street shops will look to interpret this in the upcoming season. The tulle skirt is a fabric you never thought could go with leather but it looks amazing and Sarah has the right idea!

The last two dresses are very similar in the way they have been designed, they are long in length and the the skirt is sheer styled. There is a lot of shimmer and boldness going through it which I really like!

Julien Macdonald

Moving onto Julien Macdonald I have short listed 3 outfits which I thought brought something different and unique. You can definitely say that this designer knows how to make a WOW moment come alive. Firstly I love the vibrant red colour from the first dress and it has a type of ladder style running through the middle of the dress. This is deficiently something I have not seen before and I feel this trend will be revamped in many ways in the upcoming season!

The second dress, has a ladder style which I think is a type of crochet. It's a really effective technique that blends well with these designs. I feel velvet is a fabric everyone should own and will be perfect for the colder season, I just love the two piece. Black has never looked so good!

The last dress has got me lost for words its simply WOW. From the design to the embroidery and little details, you can see the drama it possesses! It's definitely a striking piece!

Thank you for reading my post, I hope you enjoyed what I talked about!

If you did please hit that like button and leave a comment on your favourite dress!
